- Wenman, Ole and Evelyn (Apperley)
Ole Wenman, sixth child of Jacob Wenman and Margretta Anderson, was born January 30, 1903 in Percival, N.W.T. He attended school at Percival and helped on his parents' farm. While still a young man he moved to Galilee, Sask. and farmed with his brother Jack. In 1923 Ole was the elevator agent at Galilee. On January 12, 1924 he married Evelyn Apperley, born January 12, 1920 to John Apperley and Martha Steele. Their eldest son Lorne was born July 30, 1925, while they were still at Galilee. In 1926 they moved back to the Whitewood District to farm. On April 8, 1928 their second son Murray was born and on June 26, 1937 their only daughter Bernice was born.
Around 1940-1950 Ole sold his farm and bought a service station in Whitewood, now known as Wolf's Auto Body. They moved to Langley, B.C. in May 1952 where Ole worked for Homemade Bakery, delivering bread. In 1958-59, Ole and his son-in-law Charlie Wood bought a resort complex at Kalmalka Lake, near Vernon, B.C. They retired to Kelowna where they lived for 16 years before moving back to Langley. On Jan. 12, 1990 they celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. Evelyn passed away on March 14, 1990. Ole resided in the Care Home in Langley until his death on December 15, 1996. [2]
